Stainless steel 316 flanges are made of austenitic steel, which has amazing corrosive resistance properties. This grade is highly used for commercial uses. Stainless steel 316 has a high amount of molybdenum which makes it extra strong and resistant to corrosion. Molybdenum has a very high thermal conductivity and melting point, making its application ideal for industrial uses.
Stainless steel 316 flanges are highly used for marine applications as it is friendly to chloride mixed environments. SS316 flanges provide excellent corrosion at a temperature of 870°C in the case of constant services. 925°C is the recommended temperature for normal workings and services. Stainless steel 314 has a low carbon compound which provides it with good fabrication. The place should be clean before attempting this process to avoid cross-contamination because it can easily corrode the alloy. Stainless steel alloy also supports annealing in the temperature scale of 1149 °C - 1260°C.
Heat treatment does not support the hardening of this grade; hence post-annealing is the most recommended method which helps in enhancing the microstructure of the alloy. Annealing should be done only at temperatures 1010°C - 1120°C.
